    Personal Care: New Windsor Brands

When it comes to the shampoos, lotions and soaps parents choose for their babies, what they’re looking for is nothing less than the safest, most natural and most trustworthy products possible. New Windsor Brands developed a product for their premier client, Disney, which provided all that and more: Disney Daily Renewal Naturals baby wash, shampoo and lotion. Made with fruit and plant derived ingredients, these products were effective, thoroughly tested for safety and specially formulated to meet the highest standards of quality. They were so good, in fact, that Disney was ready to put their much coveted Winnie-the-Pooh branding on the packaging. Now all New Windsor Brands needed was eye-catching packaging that equaled the product itself for quality and safety.

Working With The Best

As this was Disney’s first venture into the baby market for personal care, New Windsor Brands wanted the packaging for the Disney products to be extraordinary. Luckily, New Windsor Brands had already been a longtime client of TricorBraun when they started planning the Disney line and they knew exactly what both the design team and the support staff were capable of producing. The challenge was to create a safe, aesthetically pleasing, custom designed bottle and multiple labels in a short time frame for New Windsor Brands to present to Disney, a notoriously exacting client when it comes to their brand. Acting as the external design department for New Windsor Brands, TricorBraun’s Design and Innovation department went to work to meet this challenge.

Going Above and Beyond

When New Windsor Brands and TricorBraun began working together to design the packaging for the Disney products, the collaborative spirit ran high. First, the bottles were custom designed by the TricorBraun team, shaped to fit a busy mom’s hands, embossed with charming honeybees along the sides to create traction for slippery hands and built to utilize an in-mold label process. Then the labels themselves were designed, one each for the front and back of every bottle using nine distinct, one-of-a-kind, Winnie-the-Pooh graphics, all produced in multiple languages. In the end, New Windsor Brands presented Disney with a gorgeous custom bottle – and accompanying mold - with three cap and pump color variations and 36 beautiful labels that captured the whimsy and sweetness of the Winnie-the-Pooh concept.

A Happy Ending

Using TricorBraun’s Chicago-based design group for structural and design support plus sourcing and logistical assistance from TricorBraun’s Kansas City and Atlanta offices, New Windsor Brands was able to bring a product to Disney that impressed them with both its quality and the speed with which it was accomplished. Some work still remained – including label design changes that numbered in the hundreds and a short timeline for launch that meant the in-mold labeling couldn’t be implemented for the first run of products – but the product was a resounding success from the first shipment. For New Windsor Brands, it was so successful that the line has been extended to include a new Cucumber Melon scent and a 1.7 ounce trial size decorated to match the original 15 ounce line.

And, of course, it was a big win for consumers, too. After all, it’s only natural for parents to want what’s best for their babies.
