TricorBraun Commended for “Outstanding Job” on Custom 100% PCR Plastic Bottle for Sunday Lawn Care

TricorBraun was recently recognized in Eco-Plastics in Packaging (Issue 289, “Balancing Act”) for its innovative work with Sunday Lawn Care. The feature highlights how rigid packaging companies are meeting the demands of premiumization and recyclability.

To support Sunday Lawn Care’s sustainability goals, TricorBraun developed a custom 100% PCR (post-consumer recycled) 42oz plastic bottle designed for durability and shelf impact. Originally a direct-to-consumer subscription brand, Sunday Lawn Care’s expansion into retail required packaging that could withstand diverse weather conditions while maximizing branding space.

The tall, rectangular bottle design offers a large front panel for labeling and has a strong shelf presence.

“TricorBraun had to balance creating a bottle design that was intuitive for consumers and aligned with the brand’s look and feel while providing a stable base for the tall, narrow bottle,” said Harry McSteen, Industrial and Graphic Designer at TricorBraun.

“We refined the design to a symmetrical rectangle with soft shoulders and a large front panel for ample space for labeling. The shelf presence was important because we wanted to convey to the customer that it was a larger size than its competitors.”

Ryan Pedersen, Senior Product Design Engineer at Sunday Lawn Care, added:
“We wanted our consumers to be able to recycle the package, so the bottle needed a sharp shoulder to hold a removable shrink sleeve while maintaining soft edges. The process was incredibly collaborative. We had ideas, but it was TricorBraun’s deep understanding of manufacturing and molding processes that helped us bring our vision to life. They were upfront about what would and wouldn't work — this is their area of expertise, and they did an outstanding job.
