OAK BROOK, Illinois – Three members of the TricorBraun Design and Engineering Group will be conducting a webinar on Thursday, October 20, 2016 as part of the IoPP (Institute of Packaging Professionals) Packaging Learning Center. The IoPP is dedicated to creating networking and educational opportunities that help packaging professionals succeed. TricorBraun has played an active and important role in the efforts of this organization for decades. Members of the IoPP can register for this webinar today. The webinar will focus on important considerations when choosing material selection for packaging.
Regardless of design, the selection of packaging materials is critical to the stability and compatibility of your product with your packaging solution. For example, the transmission of light can spoil the taste of wine and caustic ingredients can attack organic matter so each of these must be housed in a safe and stable environment. In addition, the material selected must be compatible with the formulation of the product. In many cases, regulations must be adhered to and testing is required.
Material selection must also meet operational guidelines including distribution requirements, testing protocols and vendor requirements as well as commercial goals such as targeted cost of goods, timeline and brand requirements. Finally, selecting a material/package that successfully engages the consumer and keeps them coming back for more, by meeting their functional needs and preferences, will ultimately drive product success.
In summary, the four key considerations include stability and compatibility, operational guidelines, commercial goals and the functional needs and preferences of the consumer. Beyond these considerations, webinar participants will also learn about TricorBraun’s methodology, tools and proven processes to achieve commercialization by simultaneously meeting design brief objectives and making critical material selection decisions.
The dialogue will take place with Becky Donner,Senior Vice President (leads the Design & Engineering Group in the development and delivery of innovative packaging solutions by combining consumer and market insight with manufacturing expertise), Matthew Ramsdell, Director of Project Management (liaison for Design & Engineering and Engineering & Technical Service teams providing strategic management of timely deliverables and successful commercialization of all custom development), and Samantha Juna, Package Design Manager (manager of the industrial design team overseeing the creative development of custom packaging solutions with an eye to innovation and market trends). A question and answer period will take place at the end of the webinar.
According to Donner,
“Knowledge sharing with regard to best practices is a mutually beneficial experience and it can only lead to more effective and strategic decision making for everyone who participates. We are proud to be part of the IoPP organization and fully support their mission and vision to raise the bar in the packaging industry.”
