Closures and Fitments

A closure is the final element that makes a package complete, creating a positive seal that protects the contents from seepage and outside contamination. It must also be easy for the user to open and close repeatedly. A fitment is a specialized part of the closure system such asa dropper, plug, spout, or sifter.

At TricorBraun, we offer a full line of closures and fitments, including child resistant and tamper evident options to top off the Total Rigid Package® for your product.

  • Common Closure Types
  • Screw-on (Thread or Lug)
  • Crimp-on (Crown)
  • Press-on (Friction)
  • Manufacturing Methods
  • Strip Molding - Finished plastic closure is stripped or pulled straight off the mold core; generally a more economical way to produce closures; has a different thread profile
  • Unscrew Molding - Finished plastic closure is unscrewed from the mold core, maintaining closer tolerances; more expensive; molds cost more to maintain due to more moving parts

Choosing the right liner is crucial since it comes in direct contact with the product and must be compatible with the product's ingredients. TricorBraun provides a complete selection of liner options in plastic or synthetic resins, metal foils, varnish-coated papers, and waxed papers.
